Alanna Penner

Alanna Penner

Alanna graduated from Olds College’s VTA program in 2016 and has worked in clinics in Calgary and Lethbridge before returning to her hometown. Her role in the clinic mostly involves running around after doctors and technicians and streamlining their work. She especially loves cats and exotics (she wants to own a rabbit, but her cat won’t allow it). In her free time, Alanna enjoys playing music, reading, writing, and planning her next trip overseas.
Connie Mckenzie

Connie Mckenzie

Veterinary Medical Receptionist (VMR)

Connie is a Veterinary Medical Receptionist with Newell Veterinary Services. Connie’s warm smile, compassionate nature, sparkling personality and love for all things furry, feathered and otherwise, in addition to her formal education at Olds College in the Veterinary Medical Receptionist program where she graduated with honours, make her a natural choice as a trusted member of our team.

Connie joined the Newell Vet team in June of 2017. She moved South from her farm North of Wabamun in 2012 and has an extensive personal and professional background in agriculture. She was active in breeding, raising and showing both commercial and dairy goats as well as poultry and horses with her daughter. Connie has spent approximately seven years in the retail agricultural sector where she built a solid reputation for excellent customer service through her hard work and dedication to client care while generating millions in sales. She is also a former 4H Horse Leader as well as a level 3 CHA Coach so it’s safe to say she is keenly aware of the valuable, multi-faceted roles animals play in all our lives. In addition, Connie is an advocate for mental health and anti-bullying.

Connie enjoys spending time teaching her Chihuahua, Zee, new tricks and has recently taken up the sport of Cowboy Mounted Shooting with her Quarter Horse mare, Phlye.

Connie believes in a team approach to providing premium care for your pets and is dedicated to doing her part to help you and your pet feels like part of our family’s canvas right from the very first hello.
